Several different injuries plague this important structure. Without a well functioning tibialis anterior it is difficult to walk with any ease. Anterior shin splints is the commonly used term to describe a severe tibialis anterior muscle injury. And the tibialis anterior tendon gives rise to a painful anterior and medial foot as well.
